Foxy, Inclusive, and Sustainable with Kyla Dufresne

Beauty businesses are not just places where people receive services.

They can be places where people feel comfortable in their bodies, welcomed without assumptions, connected to a local community, and part of a brand that cares about more than the appointment.

In this episode of The Bliss Business Podcast, we welcome Kyla Dufresne, Founder and CEO of Foxy Box Laser + Wax Bar, a Canadian hair removal franchise redefining the waxing and laser experience with bold branding, inclusive language, environmental responsibility, and community connection. Kyla built Foxy Box from humble beginnings — waxing out of the back of a jewelry store — into a growing franchise brand centered on the belief that feeling foxy is not a luxury, but a basic human right.

Foxy Box is also the only Green Circle Certified hair removal franchise in North America, meaning its hard-to-recycle beauty waste is recycled, repurposed, or diverted from landfill through Green Circle Salons. The brand also hosts community initiatives like FOXY FEST, an annual fundraiser supporting local charities.

In Foxy, Inclusive, and Sustainable, we explore:

• How beauty brands can create safer, more inclusive spaces

• Why Foxy Box removed gendered language from its service experience

• How FOXY FEST builds community while supporting local charities

• Why sustainability should be built into beauty operations

• How membership models can deepen client connection

• What it means to scale a bold brand without losing its heart

🎙️ Hosted by Stephen Sakach and Tullio Siragusa🎧 Produced by Martha Huerta

Inclusive, sustainable beauty is not just about what happens in the treatment room. It is about the language people hear, the waste a business chooses to take responsibility for, and the communities a brand helps strengthen.

Founder + CEO

Kyla Dufresne is the founder and CEO of Foxy Box Wax Bar, a bold Canadian franchise brand on a mission to inspire people to celebrate their uniqueness and live unapologetically.

Kyla started Foxy Box in 2012, funding the business with bartending tips and a belief that the traditionally awkward world of hair removal could be completely reimagined. What began as a tiny wax bar in the back of a jewelry shop has grown to Canada's largest hair removal franchise known for its unforgettable brand, fiercely loyal community, and culture-first approach to growth.

Long before scaling, Kyla invested in defining the values and behaviours that would guide Foxy Box as it grew. Today, the company is built around three core traits: self-responsibility, a positive attitude, and empathy, which influence everything from hiring and leadership to the client experience and franchise partnerships.

Kyla is passionate about building businesses that make a positive impact in the communities they serve.

She speaks candidly about entrepreneurship, franchising, motherhood, leadership, failure, culture, and the messy reality of scaling a business.

Her philosophy is simple: create safe, enjoyable places where people genuinely want to work, give back to the communities that support you, take care of the planet, and build something that leaves a lasting impression.
