The Alignment Mirror Exercise | Bliss

The alignment mirror exercise takes one page and one honest question. Tullio Siragusa on why you cannot simply market your way out of internal misalignment.

The alignment mirror exercise fits on one page, and most leadership teams will not like the answer it produces. Watch Tullio Siragusa walk through it in Episode 3 of the BLISS Monologue Series.

The setup is a sequencing error he sees constantly. Companies build a great story before they build the systems to support it. New website, sharper pitch, fresh sales decks, trained sales team, all promising that we are innovative and customer first, while inside the building people are unclear, siloed, reactive, and afraid to escalate.

His verdict: you cannot market your way out of internal misalignment. Customers do not read the positioning, they experience the operating model, and they feel it in response times, in botched handoffs, and in the moment one department promises what another cannot deliver.

The exercise itself:

• On the left, write the top three promises you have made to the market
• On the right, write the internal behaviors required to deliver each one consistently
• Then ask one honest question: are we truly operating this way today?
• If the answer is no, change the operating behavior first, not the messaging

Also in this one: why external trust cannot exceed internal trust for the long haul, the three alignments to make before scaling anything externally, and how empathy and force field analysis divide the diagnostic work between them.
