Bookkeeping is often treated as a back-office task, something business owners need for taxes, compliance, and clean records.

But purpose-driven bookkeeping asks a deeper question: what if your numbers could help you lead with more clarity, confidence, and intention?

In this episode of The Bliss Business Podcast, we welcome Mark Tuggle, PhD, EA, CEO of Telos Bookkeeping, a purpose-driven firm dedicated to delivering clarity, precision, and strategic insight to growing businesses. Telos’ tagline, “Bookkeeping with your purpose in mind,” reflects its commitment to aligning financial records with business goals.

In Books with a Bigger Purpose, we explore:

• Why bookkeeping should support purpose, not just compliance

• How financial clarity helps owners make better decisions

• Why clean books create confidence, control, and resilience

• How numbers reveal what a business truly values

• Why conscious capitalism requires financial integrity

• How owners can align money decisions with long-term vision

🎙️ Hosted by Stephen Sakach and Tullio Siragusa🎧 Produced by Martha Huerta

Purpose-driven bookkeeping is not just about knowing where the money went. It is about understanding where the business is going and whether the numbers support the life, impact, and future the owner wants to build.

“Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.” –excerpt from the Westminster Shorter Catechism (1647)

That quote articulates Mark’s personal telos – to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Throughout his over 30 years of leadership experience across numerous business sectors (military, non-profit, and for-profit), that ultimate purpose has been a guiding star. The common threads in all of those roles have been service, leadership, and lifelong learning.

Mark brings those same values of service, leadership, and learning to Telos Bookkeeping. As an Enrolled Agent with a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, he has provided accounting and advisory services to dozens of small businesses and medical practices of various kinds over the years. He knows the challenges small business owners face and the tension they manage between running a profitable enterprise and serving the people for whom they went into their field of expertise to begin with.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys his motorcycle, golf, time with his family (especially his grandchildren), serving in his church and The Boquillas Commission, and reading books aloud to his wife.
